UAHF Director and Past President, Don Jiskra presented the award to Ray with the following comments: "Today I am honored to present the Captain William S. Arnott Legacy Award to fellow board member and retired United Airlines Captain Ray Lahr. Ray is the sole remaining active founder of the United Airlines Historical Foundation when it was created in 1993. At that time, Ray became our treasurer and has continuously served in that position to present day. During these 12 years, Ray has been an inspiration of dedication to Captain Arnott’s vision to 'Preserve the Past, Inspire the Future'. We honor Ray today with the presentation of this award. The inscription reads:"

2005 Captain William S. Arnott Legacy Award

Presented to
H. Ray Lahr
Honoring his 12 years of service
As director and treasurer and his dedication to Captain Arnott’s vision
Of preserving the past, to inspire the future
June 2005

Ray graciously accepted the award and mentioned that when he started in 1953, he actually flew a DC-3, similar to the one mounted on his award stand. He recalled that he thought the plane was huge by comparison to the fighter planes he flew during his service in the US Navy. Congratulations Ray for your years of dedicated service to UAHF. We know Bill is smiling down on you!
